To start off the season with their first official game, the Silver Lake Mustangs held the house down with three wins against McCool Junction on Thursday, August 25. The C team started out strong with a 2-0 record in sets, sweeping McCool Junction without going to a third set. JV also came out eager to win, ending the game with a two-set win. With the varsity girls coming out strong, they easily dominated McCool Junction, winning all three sets. Leading the team in kills were seniors Georgi tenBensel and Lexi Wengler, with 12 and 7 kills respectively. Carrying the team in serving was senior Brooklyn Meyer with 3 aces, and sophomore Katy Soucek with 6 aces and the least amount of service errors. Sophomore Emma Schmidt held down the back row, tearing it up with 11 digs, with Meyer and tenBensel also contributing 10 and 8 digs respectively. Come support the Mustangs in their next game at home against Harvard and Heartland Lutheran on Tuesday, August 30.
