The Mustangs started off their season with a “hit” against McCool Junction on Thursday night. The volleyball team won all 7 sets they played that night and showed, on their home court, just how much potential they have for an amazing season.
The C team started out the night right with a win. They won the first two sets right away and next up was the JV game. They also took the dub in two sets. The girls did an excellent job of working together, talking, and being aggressive.
The varsity game began after parents’ night. It was Mustangs all the way with set scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-16. Senior Amanda Ehrman led the team in kills with 11, followed by juniors Georgi tenBensel and Brooklyn Meyer with 9 and 8, respectively. Senior Katelyn Karr helped the team out with 5 aces and 13 digs. Junior Lexi Wengler led the offense with 12 assists. Junior, Samantha Bonifas, shared her thoughts on the Mustangs’ first game of the season: “It was one of our first games playing together, so we can continue to improve on our communication and abilities but I’m really proud of how everyone played.” Freshman Sophie Butler played her first high school home game and quoted the experience, saying, “I feel like it was a good start to the season and made me super excited to play the rest of our games and see how we do.”
