After a tough loss to the Blue Hill, the Lady Mustangs had to pick their heads up and compete against the Heartland Lutheran Hornets. Silver Lake started the game out with intensity, running circles around the Hornets, scoring 21 points on and holding Heartland Lutheran to only four points. Junior Amanda Ehrman stepped up on Saturday making 12 of the Mustangs 58 points. By the end of the first half, the Mustangs were ahead 40-13. Georgi tenBensel, a sophomore, led the team in rebounds with a total of 12. Junior Amanda Ehrman stated “Most of the points I scored were because we did a great job with the press, so they were easy layups.” The Lady Mustangs ended the battle with a final score of 58-23.
Following the BIG win against the Blue Hill Bobcats, the boys basketball team put on their jerseys and added another win to their record. “It was really difficult for us to turn around and play another game within 24 hours, and we were all tired, but we focused and came out with a win,” stated senior Lane Parr. The entire game was very low scoring. By the end of the second half, the Mustangs were up 10-6. Matthew Hansen stepped up and led the team with points, with a total of 15 of the teams 31 points. The boys picked up the intensity of the game, and finished the game with a final score of 31-17.
