On Friday, September 18, the Silver Lake Varsity football team lost 25-6 against Southwest. The first quarter was a slow start for the Mustangs, with a score of 12-0. However, the offense came alive with senior Blaine Simonton picking up a touchdown in the second quarter. The defense only allowed Southwest one touchdown as well, with the score going into the break 18-6. Unfortunately, the Mustangs couldn’t find the endzone in the second half; they held Southwest to just one more touchdown in the game. When asked to comment on the game, Coach Conroy said, “We’ve had a tough schedule so far, and it’s only going to get tougher. So we just gotta do each game best we can.”
So far in the season, junior Oakley Rosno has both the highest all purpose and total yards per game, with 95 yards and 177.5 yards respectively. Simonton has the highest number of tackles per game at 9.7. Rosno also has scored the most overall points at an average of nine per game. Tristan Kasson leads in sacks with a total of 6 and an average of 2 per game.
